We interviewed people from around the world across many data collection projects and organisations (BirdLife, WWF, WCS, Ecosia) to try to unify how data around forests is collected in the organisation.

We researched, and set up prototypes of, open source tools, planned out which fields were essential to collect and tested mobile and desktop entry.

After testing out multiple solutions we settled on KoboToolbox / KoboCollect and extensions to it.

The report also described how the data could be exported out into wider databases.

Trillion Trees took the findings of the report and launched the the FORMAPP data collection system.
