Interactive War Memorial for Find My Past
A viral social media campaign for leading geneology website.

The Objective
Create a social media campaign to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme with an online rememberance experience for leading genealogy website FindMyPast.co.uk.
The Approach
Octophin Digital created an online, interactive memorial for those who fought and died in the Battle of the Somme which enables visitors to dedicate a poppy to their heroes of the Somme. Users can add information about their own war hero ancestors to the memorial and share their individual poppy on social media as part of a wider social media campaign to #ShareYourHero.
I would highly recommend Octophin as an agency due to their creative thought process, ability to stick to deadlines and technical ability. From creation to execution, the team ensured all deadlines were met (which were extremely tight) and ensured a smooth transition of all assets to our internal development team. They made every effort to get to know the Findmypast brand and customer ensuring the campaign was a success within the relevant target market.

The Result
Over 6,500 poppies added to date to the interactive poppy memorial, commemorating war heroes from the Somme and beyond and helping Findmypast to cut through the noise and reach their target demographic of geneology hobbyists and history fans. The majoirty of people then went on to share their poppies with friends predominantly through Facebook helped to generate a huge additional social media reach for the campaign and a viral word-of-mouth spread.
