Instant Wild is a gamified citizen science platform (including iOS and Android apps) where users can help identify species in camera trap imagery around the world.

Octophin have worked with the Instant Wild team since 2018 to support the platform, building translation features (to launch a Welsh underwater camera trap project featured by publications including the BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-64042449), new upload systems, integrations with third party systems (SciStarter), reporting and moderation systems and more.

In 2024 we were commissioned to rebuild the database and backend infrastructure and build an offline version of the system to be used on islands with limited internet access.
