Hi! I’m Vernon. I had the great good fortune to grow up in a remote part of northern Kenya. Both wild nature and computers became life long interests.
I studied Nature Conservation management in the Southern Cape in South Africa.
For over two decades, I worked in Namibia in tourism. I trained tour guides as a big part of my work. My nature interests include birding, desert ecology, dunes, geology, and astronomy. I participated in conducting wetland bird counts in Namibia for many years.
In 2015, Namibia had its first Python conference. Since then I’ve been involved with the Namibia Python society, Pynam, when I had time. Since then Python has been my main language. I enjoy teaching beginners to write Python programs.
There are two sides to computing that I enjoy. I love puzzle solving, and I love understanding the low level system of a machine. I like working on Linux machines and I enjoy C and even fiddling around with assembly language.
